The problem
Hospitals were printing film and hand-delivering radiology reports. They needed one imaging archive that kept each hospital's patients strictly separate and complied with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
What I built
- Go authentication service (Echo, Bun) with JWT auto-refresh, hospital-scoped RBAC and patient-data anonymisation.
- DICOM C-STORE, C-FIND and C-ECHO via pynetdicom across 119+ storage contexts, with JPEG-LS lossless transcoding.
- Custom Go DICOM proxy with real-time monitoring, and an HTML-to-PDF reporting pipeline.
- AWS infrastructure with managed PostgreSQL, S3 image storage and GitHub Actions with health-checked zero-downtime deploys.
Outcome
- Each hospital's patients kept strictly separate on shared infrastructure, with access scoped per facility.
- Radiology reports written and studies shared electronically with referring clinicians, replacing printed film and couriers.
